Sydney Guitar Show Set to Make Historic Return in March 2026
After a decade of success in Melbourne, Australia’s largest guitar event is expanding to Sydney. The Sydney Guitar Show will take place at Sydney Showground Hall 5 on Saturday 7 March and Sunday 8 March 2026, bringing two full days of guitars, gear, performances, and workshops to Olympic Park for the first time.

A New Chapter for Australia’s Guitar Community
Since its launch in 2015 at Caulfield Racecourse, the Melbourne Guitar Show has grown into a flagship event for the local music industry and the wider guitar community. The event has evolved beyond a simple exhibition into what many consider a celebration of Australian guitar culture, attracting players, collectors, manufacturers, and retailers from across the country.
The decision to expand to Sydney follows years of requests from guitar enthusiasts. “We have been running a successful and popular guitar show in Melbourne for a decade and people always ask us, why not Sydney?” shares Alex Masso, Producer of the Sydney Guitar Show and CEO of the Australian Music Association. Rather than abandoning Melbourne, the Guitar Show will now be held every second year in Melbourne, allowing the Production Team and exhibitors the opportunity to bring the same style of show to Sydney in alternating years.
What to Expect at the Inaugural Sydney Show
The Sydney Guitar Show will feature over 80 major and boutique brands, creating what organizers describe as the most comprehensive showcase of guitar-related products and expertise in Australia. The exhibitor list reads like a who’s who of the guitar world, featuring major international brands such as Fender, Gibson, Marshall, Ibanez, ESP, BOSS, PRS, Orange, Kemper, and Friedman.
Australian guitar makers will have a strong presence at the show. Cilia Custom Guitars (NSW), Ormsby Guitars (WA), Cole Clark Guitars (VIC), Fenech Guitars (QLD) and the launch of Mestric Guitars from Port Macquarie will showcase homegrown craftsmanship alongside the international giants.
The complete exhibitor roster also includes boutique and specialist brands such as Abasi, ACS Custom, Blue Murder Pickups, Chase Bliss, Old Blood Noise, Fractal Audio Systems, and many more, covering everything from guitars and amplifiers to effects pedals, strings, and accessories.
Live Performances and Educational Programming

Music will be central to the weekend’s experience. The initial lineup announcement features a diverse range of Australian talent, including Lismore-based Americana duo Hussy Hicks, Australian blues icon Ray Beadle, trailblazing guitarist and producer Godriguez, and 2025 ARIA Award winning bassist Lucy Clifford. The program also includes the popular YouTubers SuperFunAwesomeHappyTime Pedal Show, with additional artists yet to be announced.
Beyond the performances, the show introduces several innovative program elements designed to broaden its appeal. The Make Music Room will host a full program of workshops and interactive sessions to inspire and inform music makers about playing styles, songwriting, and more.
Recognizing the importance of nurturing young musicians, a dedicated Kids’ Room, in partnership with Big Music, will offer guitars to try and some helpful advice for younger players, including total beginners.
For families and those who prefer a more relaxed environment, quieter mornings will run with no amps in the exhibitor halls until midday, creating a more contemplative atmosphere for the first hours of each day.
The Perfect Venue
Sydney Showground Hall 5 at Olympic Park offers easy access to public transport, parking, accessibility from all parts of the city, making it an ideal location for an event expecting visitors from across NSW and beyond. The venue provides multiple spaces for brand showcases, performance stages, interactive displays, and the new dedicated program areas.
An All-Ages, All-Levels Event
“The Guitar Show is a place for guitar lovers to be completely absorbed in all things ‘guitar’, whether it’s trying new gear, talking to luthiers and pedal makers directly, enjoying performances, discovering new brands and new music, learning something, and surrounding themselves with a community that loves the same instrument that they do,” says Masso.
The event welcomes everyone from seasoned professionals to complete beginners, and even those who simply appreciate the instrument without playing it themselves. Kids under 12 attend free, making it an accessible event for families.
